Discovery Channel Telescope

Located about 40 miles outside of Flagstaff, The Discovery Channel Telescope is a project we have been involved with starting from the budgetary phase that is nearing completion. Working with the staff at Lowell and their engineers to install a complex electrical system that will power what is expected to be the fifth largest telescope in the continental United States. This project has an elaborate lightning protection and grounding system that is needed to protect the electronics housed within for the telescope controls. It has a full rotating Dome with a series of electric panels and control cabinets that rotate with the dome utilizing a power rail system. On site is also an auxiliary building that contains a recoating plant for the telescope lens. Topping off the electrical system is a UPS and back-up generator to ensure constant power delivery.
